Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton
Elisabeth Seton founded a sisterhood in New York, she visited the poor and sick in the neighborhood, white and black - highly unusual for a white person at the time. She wrote textbooks for school lessons, translated religious books from French and wrote spiritual reflections. She died of tuberculosis on January 4, 1821, at the age of 47. Her feast day is January 4th.
