The turtles are an order of the Sauropsida and first appeared more than 220 million years ago. They are counted among the reptiles.
There are 360 species with over 200 subspecies
Turtles are warm-blooded animals and therefore very active in warm weather. In winter, they hibernate for three to four months at a temperature of four degrees Celsius. During this time they rest and do not eat.
